las grietas de los puentes que se quiebran, 2025

This series addresses the transition to adulthood from a critical perspective on artistic production and the influence of socioeconomic class. Drawing from my experience in a lower-middle-class family in Bogotá, I reflect on how access to subsidied housing and public education enabled my migration and studies abroad, but also on the paradox of choosing a profession shaped by economic and labor instability.

The work originates from family photo albums, which become an archive to explore, from a migrant’s perspective, attachment, nostalgia, and uncertainty. The series offers a critical reflection both on the representation of working-class experiences and on painting understood as a commodity—tied to elite consumption and conditioned by the material structures of the upper classes, which determine and secure its existence.
